This spring, we got an up-close look into what would be Shelley Duvall’s final film by director Scott Goldberg, who shared stories of Shelley’s passion, intellect, and kindness while working on The Forest Hills.
We had no idea at the time that in just a few weeks, we would have the once-in-a-lifetime honor of getting to experience Shelley’s warmth ourselves in a long conversation and interview over the phone, realizing that what we had heard from Scott and everyone else who has worked with Shelley was true: she was truly something special. There will never be another Shelley.
Today, as part of our two-part celebration of the life and career of Shelley Duvall, we want to share with you a reflection of the last director who got to work with Shelley on a film, someone who got to see firsthand that even in her final years and months, she held onto a deep love for people and film.
