True Story Behind The Vaccine Whistleblower In Andy Wakefield’s Film ‘Protocol 7’

Starring Eric Roberts, Matthew Marsden, Rachel G. Whittle, and Harrison Tipping and based on real-life events, Protocol 7 is a corporate thriller telling the story of a mother who teams up with a doctor exiled from the medical profession and a virologist turned corporate whistleblower to hold a pharmaceutical corporation accountable for what they say are fraudulent test results for a failing mumps vaccine.

It's a complex topic further compounded by the fact that the film's director, Andy Wakefield, was removed from the medical register for his involvement in a 1998 study that was found to have fraudulently claimed a link between the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine and autism.

We support lifesaving vaccines and our coverage of this film does not equal an endorsement. However, we wanted to take the opportunity to discuss with Wakefield and the film’s cast the importance of being able to hear perspectives different from our own, and an idea that is at the heart of all of our motivations: the desire to do and stand up for what we believe is right.

Listen in on our conversations with the team behind Protocol 7 at the film's New York City premiere.
