Whether you watched her videos or not, if you were coming of age in the early 2010s, you likely remember the reigning YouTube queen of the era, Bethany Mota.
In the years after launching her channel as Macbarbie07 in 2009, Bethany became known and loved by millions for her lifestyle videos including hauls, tutorials, recipes, and DIYs. In 2013, she became one of the first influencers to launch a clothing line with a major brand when she released a collection with Aeropostale, and we rushed to grab one of her skater skirts!
Since then, she has continued to share tidbits of her life online as her goals and style have evolved, and has more recently taken on TV — first as a competitor on Dancing with the Stars, and now as the host of a competition show for up and coming influencers looking to jumpstart their careers!
We caught up with Bethany to talk about her new Crackle TV show Follow Me, how the experience of being an online creator has changed over the past decade, and what she believes is the key to being happy and successful as an influencer.
